SIGNAL is software for supporting production control in production companies. The production is reproduced in SIGNAL as a computer model. This enables simulations of the production. SIGNAL uses data from existing PPS systems for this and is itself used to optimise complex production processes. SIGNAL simulates production in the future and can make forecasts regarding whether jobs will be completed on schedule in production. In this way, deadline difficulties and bottlenecks can be identified early and avoided. Decisions regarding alternative actions are supported by quantitative statements. Various parameter assignments are evaluated in production by simulating production orders.
Among other things, SIGNAL took into account the experience acquired from two projects named under the references. Both projects were carried out in advance to show the benefits and feasibility of the simulation for production planning.
